Anchors away!
The anchor was the first part I worked on, since I was still waiting on a couple of the online items to ship. I started by cutting a tiny slit in the two styrofoam rings so I could slip the small plastic ring through. I then painted all of the rings silver, using not only model paint, but nail polish as well. (It made them extra metallic looking.)
Next, I cut out two large heart-shaped pieces of sticky vinyl, and stuck the feathers around the edges. I sandwiched the two pieces onto the larger of the foam rings, and glued (and stapled) the rest of the feathers directly onto the non-sticky side of the vinyl. I didn't have very many turquoise feathers, so I had to brush dye onto some of the lighter ones to simulate the color of Shiva's anchor.
Gloves and Armbands
Her gloves are pretty straighforward. They're basically wristbands with little triangular pieces of cloth that attach to the rings on her middle fingers. The underside of the wristbands have a couple of beads hanging off them, although I had the dangedest time figuring out what color they're supposed to be. (Gold and Silver.)
The armbands were made from folded cloth. To make sure they didn't slide down my arms, I put little drops of silicone in the inside of them. (Just like they do with strapless bras!) The ropes that hang from the arm bands were made from polyester braid, and the tufts at the ends are blue feathers and slices of vinyl tubing.
Jewelry
Shiva only wears two pieces of Jewelry; a necklace, and an ankle bangle. The bangle was made from vinyl tubing, which was painted gold. I then attached the back of the bangle to the back of my ankle with a loop of clear thread so it wouldn't slip off or get underfoot when I walked.
The necklace was far more complicated. It was one of the last pieces to be completed, as I had originally intended to glue the stones directly onto the bodystocking with silicone. But since I decided to go with make-up instead, I got to take a crash course in jewelry assembly using only plastic wrap, glass beads, and caulk.
